A disttination which is exactly 30 hops away from my gateway router, becomes unreachable if I access it sitting behind gateway. How can I handle this.

It can be done by specifying the maximum amount of hops that can be traversed. With Windows, it can be done like: tracert -h 60 www.cisco.com
-h 60 being a maximum of 60 hops.
tracert [-d] [-h maximum_hops] [-j computer-list] [-w timeout] target_name

I am not interested to do traceroute, rather I am interested to access it to resolve DNS.
