Hi,
i am trying to connect a 3640 router in a 2948 switch. On the router i
always get
a line protocol is down on the FE interface. But on the switch i got the
line protocol
is up on the port where the 3640 is connected. I tried a different cable ,
different port
of the switch , even a different 3640 and i always get the same behavior.
Any hints ?
thanks

On the Router
FastEthernet0/1 is up, line protocol is down
Hardware is AmdFE, address is 0002.1630.70c2 (bia 0002.1630.70c2)
Internet address is a.b.c.d/24
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 100000 Kbit, DLY 100 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
Keepalive set (10 sec)
Auto-duplex, Auto Speed, 100BaseTX/FX
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
On the switch
FastEthernet9 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is epif_port, address is 0001.43af.a00f (bia 0001.43af.a00f)
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 100000 Kbit, DLY 100 usec, rely 255/255, load 1/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set, keepalive set (10 sec)

are you sure , these interfaces are duplex and speed negotiating?

i tried forcing the speed/duplex on both sides .
100 Full same result
10 Full same result
Each time i modify speed or duplex , the line protocol goes up for maybe 2 seconds and then goes down again.
Also keepalives is enabled on both sides

port security orr any aditional characteristics are enabled??
