we installed the LMS2.1 LMS bundle upgrade. We notice that there are occassion where the LMS change the hostname of the 7401 routers. This happens after the ANI Discovery.
When we telnet to the pair of 7401 routers, both have the same hostname.
Not sure if you guys have encountered same problems. Pls advise.
Many thanks in advance

Hi,
Do you mean the host name is changing in campus manager or RME.
Campus manager dicovery please refer to the following web site
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/477/Campus/ani.shtml
But usually the name of the device does not change, unless might be is the device had been discovered through one interface, the ani process will try to resolve to that interface. And then most probably the database was deleted and in the new discovery the device was discovered with or through a new interface. The ANI process will try to resolve to the new interface discovered.
I dont think there should be anyother think. About device name getting changed in RME. It is posible that the device was added with one name and in campus the device was discovered with a different name. And if you have or done a syn to ani database or import devices from ANI server.
direct answere should not happen, unless anything done.
Thanks,
Habib

ANI does not make any changes to the device host names at all.

There is a bug: CSCdx73755 from RME 3.4 which causes the hostname to change. The TAC has informed me this is addressed in IDU 1.0.
