Load balancing between Parallel WAN links and paraller routers

We have 2 E1 lines each one connected to different routers. Both E1's are going to the same destination, hence metric is same. We are using EIGRP.

How do I configure load balancing. Currently I am finding only one E1 is active at a time. I want the whole traffic be shared by both E1.

Re: Load balancing between Parallel WAN links and paraller route

You can use MHSRP with two groups for the same IP subnet. Make two virtual IP addresses set the priorities in a way that each router is active router for one virtual ip address (i.e. 192.168.1.1 on r1 / 192.168.1.2 on r2). Now configure half of the clients to default-gateway x.x.x.1, the other half to x.x.x.2.

If you do it that way you have a statistical load balancing.

Tinkering with the metrics (variance) and sending the traffic back over the interface where it entered the router in te first place I regard as more difficult to handle.

Regards,

Mat
