Please suggese what ratio normally CEF(per destination basis) follows to distibute traffic on 2 more equal cost path.

Shailendra,

The traffic ratio is just what you stated, per destination. Depending on how equal your traffic is towards mulitple destinations this is how your distribution will be. Per packet might work for you if you do not see the distribution that you are after with CEF in it's per destination form.

Hope this helps,

Don

Thanks. I just wanted to analyse how CEF based distribution is different then "Fast Switching/Optimum Switching" based Load balancing. We practically see there is a lot of difference between "Fast Switching" based and "CEF" based load balancing and observe that CEF based load balancing provides better link utilization; while with 'fast Switching" we observe that one link is highly used(both with per destination)while other remains less used and when one link face packet/traffic droping(due to CAR), other link gains the traffic. We are not able to understand this difference and in-order to understand this behaviour, we are curious to know CEF working which defines the ratio. We have gone through almost all CEF documents, we do not find such a diff between fast-switching based load balancing and CEF based load balancing except document confirms that with large number of Active host, load distribution/balancing with CEF would be better.

Request for yr kind help to clarify the issue.

Shailendra
