load charge in catalyst 6500 series

Hello,

I'd like to know how I can measure the load charge of a vlan in a catalyst 6500 series. That vlan has a lot of different interfaces in it, with different speed lines. I'd like to know the % of load of the whole. I think that measure depends of the bus speed that the Catalyst is able to handle.

I'd thought to do it with mrtg, I mean, using the snmp protocol, but I don't know if it's possible.

And, by the way, the bandwidth (max speed) the Catalyst is able to handle, which value of the specification do I have to consider?

Does anyone know any document about all this issues?

Thanks in advance.

Re: load charge in catalyst 6500 series

You could do that by configuring the switch to span all the traffic from a VLAN to the probe and monitor the traffic load in TrafficDirector. Another way would be to use third party application such as the Smartbit's smartwindows application. http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/legacy/traffic/
