Lock speed/duplex on Gigabit-interface in Catalyst 3750?

Hi

How do I lock speed to 1000 and Duplex to full on a switch-interface in a Catalyst 3750? Default is "Auto-duplex, Auto-speed" and the only relevant command I can find is "speed nonegotiate" but even with this command on an interface show interface saids Auto, Auto.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Re: Lock speed/duplex on Gigabit-interface in Catalyst 3750?

I take it you are trying to configure the speed\duplex on one of the fiber ports (gi1/0/25, 26, etc). My understanding of it is that the fiber ports, being that they have gig fiber modules in them, the speed\duplex cannot be negotiated, it is always gig\full.

Hi

No, I want to lock the speed to 1000 and duplex to full on the GigabitETHERNET ports. Is that possible?

A gigabit interface does 1000 Mbps only and hence you do not have options to hard set speed. If you have a 10/100/1000Mbps interface, you can hard set speed.

Re: Lock speed/duplex on Gigabit-interface in Catalyst 3750?

I have a 3750 sitting here with the GigabitEthernet ports. I was able to nail the speed at 1000 (or whatever) but was not able to specify duplex. Apparently if it's Gigabit capable, it's always full.

SK#config t

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

SK(config)#int gi1/0/18

SK(config-if)#speed 1000

SK(config-if)#duplex full

Gigabit port is restricted to full duplex

SK(config-if)#

Hope this helps

Re: Lock speed/duplex on Gigabit-interface in Catalyst 3750?

As I said it depends on what type of interface you have. You have a 10/100/1000 Mbps interface.

Here are the options for a 1000Mbps only interface

Switch(config)#int gig 1/0/1

Switch(config-if)#speed ?

nonegotiate Do not negotiate speed

Here are the options for a 10/1000/1000Mbps interface

Switch(config-if)#int gig 2/0/1

Switch(config-if)#speed ?

10 Force 10 Mbps operation

100 Force 100 Mbps operation

1000 Force 1000 Mbps operation

auto Enable AUTO speed configuration
