Logging events on 3620

Hi all,

Quick question...how do I get our 3620 router to give me a complete log or somehow show me details of all activity on this router? We have two E1 PRI lines and ethernet interace.

Would it be as simple as 'show tech suport' or ' show isdn detail / events' ?

Thanks gang!

Re: Logging events on 3620

It depends what you are trying to see.

'Show tech' will tell you 'complete log' of processes, memory usage, buffers, config etc. at that instant. But if you are interested in 'complete log' of how things are going on, you should turn on debug for that particular process and log the debug output.

Thanks.

Re: Logging events on 3620

George

you want to add a few commands to the router

'service timestamps log datetime ' - this will show tha actual time the event happened

'service timestamps debug datetime' - this will show the time debug events happened when you enable debug commands

'logging buffered 20000' this will log all events to a log in ram. you can view it by doing a 'sh log'.

If you want to log to a syslog server the command is 'logging ip address of server'

hope this helps
