Losing pings to router port but not devices through that port.

I have a remote 2621 router running IOS 2.1(15). When I ping F0/0 I lose 20-30% of the pings, but I don't lose any pings when I ping devices that are through F0/0 like the switch that is connected to F0/0, or any of the hosts on that switch. There are no errors on F0/0 or dropped packets either.

What could be causing this?

Here is an output of 'show f0/0':

where are you pinging from ?

Also what does the switch port look like that is connected to this router ,

are you running hsrp ? cef ?

what do the ping drops look like ? is there a pattern ?

1. I'm pinging from a PC to this remote router through S0/0 to F0/0.

2. F0/0 is connected to the B port of a 1924 which is a 100mbTX port. That switch is 164.72.212.145. It is full duplex also and show no errors, or dropped packets.

3. No hsrp or cef is running.

4. Here is the ping output to F0/0 164.72.212.129, and then 164.72.212.145 the switch:

You're probably just hitting the rate limiting for ping relplies.... This is pretty normal.

what is the gateway of the switch is it .129 or another device ? what happens when you ping .129 sourcing from another interface on the router or from the .145 address ?
