In 802.3 Ethernet protocol....if MAC address is not assigned to a Ethernet controller (i.e. 00:00:00:00:00:00) is it allowed to receive broadcast frames (FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF)?
I mean ARP Request frames from other nodes in the network.

MAc address with all 0 would only seen when you have faulty NIC in place.

Hi insharie,
My usecase is slightly different.
I am working on a micro-controller based Ethernet project.
After MAC initialisation, I need to read the MAC address from non-volatile memory and then update the MAC-Address register.
Between MAC initialisation and MAC-Address register update, is it allowed to receive broadcast frames?
