Hi All,

We are trying to configuring mac ACLs on our Cisco 6500 with Sup7203B and PFC3B with IOS version 12.2(18)SXD6. Below is the configuration that we used.

mac access-list extended test

deny any any

interface g8/2

mac access-group test in

172.16.0.15-----(g8/2)--->C6500<---(g8/1)-------172.16.0.10

Will this only work on non-ip traffic? We weren't able to get it working on the C6500 but its working using C3750 and C2950 switches.

Please advise, thank you.

Regards,

Ansley

Hi Ansley,

This works only for NON-IP traffic. Each type of ACL (IP, IPX, and MAC) filters only traffic of the corresponding type. A Cisco IOS MAC ACL never matches IP or IPX traffic.
