Mac Address of Device

Hello all,

had encountered a problem on vlans.

a cisco device (edge level) became route bridge suddenly and crashed the vlans making network totally unstable.

I have the mac address of the device - is there any way to find out from mac address which device model exactly was it. as this device is not on the netwok list what we used.

thanks in advance.

Re: Mac Address of Device

If I understand you correctly, you are looking for the offending device ??

From your core device you can try a "sh cdp neighbors detail" and search the output OR from your L2 distribution device you can try a "sh cam " This will point you to the port the MAC is being learned from. That will start to narrow down your search. Repeat this until you find the device.

I hope this helps ...
