Making two Switches work together at 100 MB

I have a cisco catalyst 2924 and a xyplex 10/100 Switch. I cannot get a device on one switch to talk to a device on the other switch at good speeds.. As long as they are on the same switch (either one) they do just fine. The switches are connected to each other via a cross over cable... Any ideas would be appreciated.

Three Ideas:

A Try another Crossover cable.

B Hard code both to 100 full.

C Download a copy of QCheck from netiq.com. Install it on several pc's and quantify "just fine" and "good speed". Then report the hard data.

I bet turning off autonegotiation and fixing both devices at whatever speed and duplex will solve it.
