Many bcast and mcast packets

I am getting many mcast and bcast packets on all by 3508 switch Gigabit interfaces. Where do I start to troubleshoot and what commands do I do to find which port is

how are you able to determine that you are getting many broadcast and many mcast traffic? And what kind of issue are you facing that is the result of this broadcast and mcast?

Talking about switching, all broadcast "frames" would have a source mac address (specific to the NIC / device) and a destination of all 1's. You may have to locate which port the mac address is being learned from and follow the switched network path to isolate the device that is originating the broadcasts.

You might want to consider breaking up a larger network into smaller broadcast domains using VLAN's if this is consistently happening

I will have multiple VLANS but not at this moment.

WE have a flat network. PLease advise

Is there any loops in your network topology

check that spanning tree is active on all the switches.

No No loops. I had a interface in a full duplex and the other on the half duplex.

The speed implreoved but I still get alot of Bcas and Mcast packets
