Many Giants on interface VLAN 1

Hi,

On some switches I see an enormous amount of giant packets on interface vlan 1. This interface is in shutdown because we made an other VLAN which is active.

It's only on a couple of switches that we see this phenomenon.

I only see this giants on this specific interface. The giants cannot be located on any other interface.

Anybody an idea why this is? And why is there traffic passing this interface while an other VLAN interface is active?

Many thanks.

Regards

Koen

Re: Many Giants on interface VLAN 1

What model switch is it? Are jumbo frames configured in the network?

Is this a 2900XL? There was bug on those switches where they erroneously reported Giants on VLAN interfaces. It was purely a cosmetic issue.

Re: Many Giants on interface VLAN 1

It is a C3500XL with IOS Version 12.0(5.4)WC(1)

And no jumbo frames have been configured on our network.
