Maximum number HSRP groups possible on Cisco 7606 / Supervisor 3BXL

Hi,

Currently I'm investigating the various models for purchase to build a new network.

What is the maximum number of HSRP groups I can use on Cisco 760x boxes with Supervisor 3BXL cards?

On the link:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps700/products_qanda_item09186a008011c6bb.shtml

It says the maximum number is 256.

On

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps5207/products_feature_guide09186a00801d2d21.html

It talks about 4095 groupnumbers for HSRP v2, but is it right for me to say it can use those numbers, but not actually run 4096 HSRP group instances?

Reason for asking this, is to calculate my network and assigning an unique HSRP group to each webserver seperate. With 256 groups, my guess is that I'm stuck with 256 webservers, and I need some more :)

Thanks in advance.

Hans

Re: Maximum number HSRP groups possible on Cisco 7606 / Supervis

According to the second doc. you provided. HSRPv1 supports up to 256 groups and v2 support 4096. However, if you check the feature on 7606, seems it MAY not support v2 at the moment.

If you need more group, I suggest to split it to another router.
