Memory allocation error.

Does anyone have an answer for this. This is the router output.

Re: Memory allocation error.

YOur router is outta gas. IF you have made significant changes in the configuration, or its been a while since the router has been reloaded, consider scheduling an outage window and doing a cold start reload (power it off).

If neither condition above is true, you could be having a hardware failure.

Re: Memory allocation error.

I tried a cold start but now it has no flash memory so its starting and the rommon> prompt. How do I get my config back?

Thanks

Re: Memory allocation error.

miller, try the following:

give dir flash: and see if you have a valid flash image. In case it shows you any files on the flash,

use boot flash:xyz (IOS Image name)..

This boots up with your old IOS image..

The memory allocation failure may also happen due to huge traffic flowing on the router (due to attakcs)..

i) check the CPU utilisation of the router, when you get malloc error..

ii) if CPU is high, check the utilisation of the ethernet and see if it is high..

try these and let us know
