Memory in 1721 sufficient for Firewall Feature Set

I want to ask a proactive question about the memory installed in a recently purchased 1721 ADSL router for my customer.

I have purchased the Software Feature Set ID: IP/ADSL/FW/IDS PLUS IPSEC 3DES for the router.

Cisco Part # S17C7HK9-12215T=

File name: C1700-k9o3sy7-mz.122-15.T11.bin

When I do a sho ver on the router, it reads:

cisco 1721 (MPC860P) processor (revision 0x300) with 54731K/10805K bytes of memory.

Processor board ID FOC0802148G (526532309), with hardware revision 0000

MPC860P processor: part number 5, mask 2

Bridging software.

X.25 software, Version 3.0.0.

1 FastEthernet/IEEE 802.3 interface(s)

1 ATM network interface(s)

32K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.

32768K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)

When I look up the software on the Cisco IOS Upgrade Planner, it indicates that I need 48 MG of Memory and 16 Meg of Flash.

As I read the sho ver, it looks like I have 54 Mg Memory and 32 MG Flash.

Am I reading the memory correctly in the 1721??

Hello,

you actually have 64MB RAM and 32MB Flash memory. The two values shown:

54731K/10805K

are added up, the first value is system memory and the second value is shared memory (as far as I remember...). In any case your 64/32 is sufficient for the feature pack you are trying to install.

HTH,

Georg
