Unlike point-point VPNs like IpSec which have a star topology these would be a meshed ring ie any body can communicate to anybody on the VPN. Perfect exmple would be an MPLS VPN or M-GRE or multipoint L2TPv3

so bascially they arent connected centrally, they are in a ring and to communciate they go around the ring !!

Yes and no. Yes they arent centrally connected but there is no ring. It is any-any connectivity logically. If there are 3 sites a,b,c , a can reach b and c independently irrespective of whether b is up or not
