METDST: %C1700-3-BAD_EEPROM_VERSION

Hello,

A 1721 router with IOS 12.2(15)T10 began logging the following message:

Oct 3 10:12:26.782 METDST: %C1700-3-BAD_EEPROM_VERSION: The eeprom version field has an invalid entry ()

The Error Message Decoder does not provide much information about this. Can someone help me decipher it?

Thanks!

Re: METDST: %C1700-3-BAD_EEPROM_VERSION

Hello,

from what I can tell from CCO, this is either an informational message, or your EEPROM might be damaged (this could occur during a power or some other electrical surge, such as lightning). Have a look at the post (from another forum) below, it describes a way to check if the cookies in your EEPROM are ok:

Recovery EPROM Cookie on Router Cisco

Re: METDST: %C1700-3-BAD_EEPROM_VERSION

Is there any way to change or reset the cookie on WIC/VIC modules?

Thanks

Andy
