Microsoft VPN through Cisco 802 DSL Router to Microsoft VPN Server

I am trying to connect with Microsoft VPN client to a Microsoft VPN Server behind a Cisco 802 DSL Router. I cannot get it to let me through. I can connect and receive a DHCP address from the VPN server, if I'm on the local network, so the VPN server appears to be working. When I try to connect through the Internet, I get the following:

Error 629: You have been disconnected from the computer you dialed.

Any ideas how to set this up? You help is greatly appreciated.

Need to see the config of 802 router..IP address of the VPN server is a public or privet?..Tejal

The IP address of the VPN server is private. 192.168.0.200.

I have this in the router

ip nat inside source tcp 192.168.0.200 1723 xx.xxx.xxx.xxx 1723 extendable

replacing the xx with the external ip address of the router.

when the vpn client gets disconnected, is the machine situated on another network behind a firewall, or directly connected to an ISP?

When you say you get a dhcp address while on the inside, are you saying you can successfully connect using the VPN client to the VPN server while on the LAN? This would control for authentication & pptp profile configuration errors
