Migrating from STP to RSTP (PVST+)

Hi all,

I have 2 6509, one running RSTP and one running STP. Both switches are in hybrid mode running CatOS 7.6.3.

Between the 2 6509 are 2 x 4006 connected. One 4006 is on CatOS using 1Q trunks. The other 4006 is on IOS using both ISL and 1Q trunks.

Both the 4006 are STP/RSTP unaware, so the 2 6509 are "directly connected" in STP terms. Here's the layout:

6509stp-(1q)-4006catos-(1q)-4006ios-(isl)-6509rstp

When I migrate the 6509 with STP to RSTP (set spantree rapid...) I get the following error:

- 2003 Oct 27 07:35:10 MET +01:00 %SPANTREE-2-RX_1QPVIDERR: Rcved pvid_inc BPDU on

1Q port 3/5 vlan 15

- 2003 Oct 27 07:35:10 MET +01:00 %SPANTREE-2-RX_BLKPORTPVID: Block 3/5 on rcving

vlan 15 for inc peer vlan 28830

This does not seem to match because other VLANs do not have this problem. Some do and some don't. I cannot find any related issue/misconfig on this.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Arjen Koers

Hi,

As far as I know, this message means that you are receiving BPDUs from wrong vlan. It means that the problem starts on the trunk or on the sending switch.
