Minimum Cable Lengths

Good Morning!

In a recent network upgrade, we're cleaning up our patch panel closets and want to use shorter jumper cables (RJ-45 Cat 6) from the switch to the patch panel. I wanted 6" cables, but my boss things that it causes "packet drops" I've tried to explain many times over, that it's no different than unpunching the Cat5 cable from the bac

k of the patch panel, terminating an RJ45 cable directly in, and connecting that to our switch. We'r

e using all Cisco 3500 series switches, mostly running at 100mbps, full duplex. He also tells me tha t this has nothing to do with anything electrical. Ha! Last time I checked, signals ran down wires, and everything has electrical properties....

Please help me confirm I'm right....a white paper would be great as well...if someone knows where to get it!!

Thank you for your time!!
