Hello All,

I wanted to ask ...(might be a too basic doubt)

"Can i connect an ordinary modem on a NM-8A/S interface".

Looking forward for a reply.

regards,

Re: Modem on NM-8A/S

Hi Vijayendra,

Yaa u can, you have to go in for DB60(A/S)-to-RS232(Modem) cable

that will do the job

Re: Modem on NM-8A/S

NM-8A/S as the name suggest is a 8 port Async/Sync module. So you can connect a modem for async communication. You need to use "physical layer async" command under the serial interface to make it perform as async interface. Here is the url fore more on that

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/107/hw_as.shtml

Above link also has the information (with link) for cable required between DTE (router) and DCE (external modem)
