Modem trouble

Hello group,

My problem is a simple one, but I can't really find a straight answer on the Cisco site, maybe you guys can point me in the right direction.

All I need to do is make our Cisco 2501 router dial an ISP when a certain user launches their IE browser.

The modem is connected to the aux port with a rollover cable. The modem is a MultiTech, Multi Modem II.

I'm having quite a lot of trouble understanding how to configure this on our router...please help!

George.

Re: Modem trouble

You need to have all the PC's with a default gateway as the ip address of the 2500. After that here is the sample config for router dialing out on the aux port running ppp with isp..

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/471/mod-aux-dialout.html

Here the sample config is for 2600..The config will be the same for 2500 too..just aux port line number will be different.

Re: Modem trouble

you need to configure a dialer-list specifying IP as interesting

you need to bind the dialer-list to the async (aux) port

use PPP as the encap

you should enable ip domain-lookup

you need to have the PAP or CHAP parameters setup with you ISP
