MPLS and labels

Can someone explain to me how MPLS and labels work. Can it only be used on serial lines as the only information I can find is used is label number and outgoing interface . Or is there something more to find the destination ? If it is just serial lines it is obviosly the other side of the line, but if ethernet .

Thanks Håkan

Re: MPLS and labels

I may be a bit late on my response but MPLS is not only confined to serial interfaces and Ethernet interfaces may impose labels. However, there are some issues with imposing labels on Ethernet interfaces that have to do with frame size that you should investigate. I hope this helps. If you have anymore questions don't hestitate to drop me a message.
