mrtg process stall

Dear sir,

My switch is Cat4k with SuperEngineIII. There is a MRGT utility connect to the Switch (it's platform is linux). There are 3 3com switches and 1 cat3548 connect to the Cat4k. There is a curious problem:

My mrtg process point to the 3 3com switches would stall(just like die) sometimes. But the mrtg process point to 3548 works normal. If i replace the Cat4k with another 3com switch, the mrtg process would not die then.

I need to know why or How I can troubleshooting this problem.

There is no special configuration on cat4k but

I have only 1 vlan on the cat4k.

Am not sure if this is a problem with the Cat4k since Cisco switches ususally work well with MRTG. You could try re-installing the MRTG process again or check for known bugs with this issue.
