mtu-size on x25 interface

I do have problems to understand the mtu-size on an x25 interface.

default the ips/ops is 128 bytes.

this means that every x25 paket has a max. of 128 bytes.

!

if i make a "mtu 576" for example and then a "sh int xy" i see ips/ops 128 byte.

so what is the difference between mtu xyz and x25 ips,ops !

With ips and ops you set default i/p and o/p packet size at the interface. If you need to set ips and ops you need to use x25 ips/ops command on interface. MTU is the restriction posed by data-link layer on maximum size of the packet that can be transferred. It is usually driven by the lowest value in the path.
