Mulicast-Monitoring through SNMP

I'm looking for a simple way to monitor multicast-traffic. I only found one variable under the mib-2.ifMIB-tree, but it works only with sub-interfaces. Do you know mib-variables, which support multicast-issues ?

Thank you for your answer and best regards !

In IF-MIB, there are ifInMulticastPkts, ifOutMulticastPkts, ifHCInMulticastPkts, ifHCOutMulticastPkts. For HC counters, you need to use snmp v2c to poll them.

i know these variables, but it works only with sub-interfaces. if i start a request on an "normal" interface (f.e. Se0/0), i get no values returned.

Then you might run into a bug. There are quite a few bugs on snmp counters. What's the "show ver"?

Re: Mulicast-Monitoring through SNMP

It's bug CSCdu26480. Multicast and Broadcast counters were not implemented until late 12.2T code. There is another object, ifInNUcastPkts which is in ifTable and based on RFC1213 was implemented at very early stage of IOS.

So you can have two choices. Either upgrade to latest 12.2T code, currently 12.2(15)T11, or poll ifInNUcastPkts. Notice that even the IP only image needs 32MB RAM. It doesn't look like your router has enough memory.
