Multi Mode Port with Single Mode Fibre

Can I connect Single Mode Fibre on a point to point link using Multimode Fast Ethernet Ports?

This is definitely NOT recommended, but in an emergency situation it does work (sometimes!), for short runs (<50ft). If you have a down network and the only fiber you can find is single-mode, you will probably be ok....
