multi NTP question

Hi All,

If in the following case:

R1--R2--R3

and R2 syn time with R1, R3 syn time with R2. If I don't use "ntp peer" command, so in R1 should use "ntp master" command to define the master and in R2 should use "ntp server" command to point to R1 as time server. But at that time R3 need to syn R2, so should I also use "ntp master" command in R2 to define it as a master? Can anybody tell me? Thank You!

Teru,

Ntp master would not be needed on R2. If you have ip reachability it would be best to point bothe R2 and R3 at R1 for the mast clock rather than pulling from each other. More accurate time this way.
