Multi T1s (5) to make 6 meg connection to internet

I am looking at bringing 5 T1s from my isp to a Cisco 3640 and bonding them together to create a 6 meg connection. Would I use PPP Multilink configs for this type of solution and if so, anyone have a documentation?

Hello,

put the 5 T1 leased lines in a ppp multilink bundle. To configure this, put the following commands on each interface you want to have in the multilink bundle:

ppp multilink

multilink-group 1

Check this link for more information:

Hi,

The following links should be useful. Also ensure that the router has sufficient DRAM & Flash as MPPP processing is CPU intensive.

Configuring Multilink PPP:

Creating multilink bundles between routers:

Hope this helps,

Rajesh

Does Multilink PPP do load balacing?

Hi,

According to the document below, load balancing is inherent to the nature of MPPP as it sends packets across the individual links that are part of the multilink bundle in a round robin fashion.

Alternatives for High Bandwidth Connections Using Parallel T1/E1 Links:

Hope this helps,

Rajesh
