Multicast+1000 VLANs

Hi,

I have L2 core (3550 EMI) and one router on a stick (terminator)

with trunk on GigabitEhthernet and many DSLAMs on edges.

The multicast source for IPTV belongs to VLAN 10 (for example).

There are 1000 VLANs (IP subnetworks).

If 100 subsribers join to multicast group

traffic on trunk port in the routers = 100*2,5 Mbps. over 200Mbps

Can you imagine what happend if all (1000) wants to get multicast traffic !

How to optimize it ?

P.S. (I was already try: MLS,IGMP snooping,MVR)

Re: Multicast+1000 VLANs

The reliability of multicast transmissions can be improved when more no of users join to a multicast group by the use of ReSerVation Protocol (RSVP), the Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP), and 802.1p or other Layer 2 priority mechanisms which make it possible to deliver end-to-end QoS over a Layer 2/Layer 3 network.
