MPING is both a sender & receiver simultaneously. It transmits to the group and also joins the group:
The defaults are UDP port 1711, TTL 16, time between packets 1000msec and it doesn't record reception of it's own packets. Type mping from the command prompt to see the options.
MCAST can be either a Sender or a Receiver - it depends on the CLI options you enter. You could be both a sender & a receiver by running the application in multiple command prompts:
mcast /send /grps:220.127.116.11 /srcs:192.168.1.1
mcast /recv /grps:18.104.22.168
Default TTL with MCAST is 5, interval is 20msec and it will send 100 512-byte packets. Type MCAST at the CLI to see the options.
If you are after a more visual testing approach use VLC or Windows Media Server (part of Windows 2000/2003). VLC is a bit of a pain to get going as the documentation is a bit tricky to read - especially how to change the default TTL from 1.....
