multicast over catalyst 3500

I have a checkpoint firewall (redundant system) alreaddy trying to get conected with ten old cabletron switch/routers which do not support multicast, all of them connected through a catalyst 3500 switch

I alredy have IP conectivity (all the ports running 10Mbps)

The firewall requires to talk multicast with the remote devices (cabletron) to work properlly and deploy all the information to switch to the backup firewall on a failure

May I use the catalyst to simulate a Multicast destination allowing the firewall to work propertlly (multicast protocol just between firewall and catalyst) and allowing the cableton switchs to see a virtual MAC as their default gateway? the catlysm must have the virtual MAC toward the cabletron switchs and real MAC to the Firewall and change the real MAC when the firewal backup is activated and allowing a "translation between real and virtual mac"
