Multicast PIM Sparce mode

Hi guys,

I have configured ip multicast-routing on my cisco routers to forward video stream traffic through multicast.

On article I'm reading from they only have configuration for the routers but I also need the configuration for the layer 3 switch 4500 series.

Can anyone guide me. thanks in advance.

I have the following configuration:

routers participating on multicast: globla config-----------#ip multicast-routing

on all routers announcing the roundezvous point:--------#ip pim rp-address 192.168.181.1

on interface participating on multicast traffic:--------------#ip pim sparce-mode

on router with multicast clients-------------------------------# ip igmp join-group 236.x.x.x

Your L3 switch config should be similar to your router config.  (It helps with questions like these if you also identify your supervisor and the IOS version you're running.)

Unclear why you're using the igmp join-group command.

Also BTW, I believe, the ip pim rp-address doesn't announce, it tells that router what's the RP IP is;  although RP IP can be announced.  (Your RP is well selected?)
