Multiple SPAN 6509

I have a 6509 with IOS Version 12.1. I have the following monitoring commands currently.

monitor session 1 source vlan 1 - 500 , 502 - 906

monitor session 1 destination remote vlan 501

monitor session 2 destination interface Gi4/14

monitor session 2 destination interface Gi6/20

monitor session 2 source remote vlan 501

interface GigabitEthernet4/14

description SPAN Port for monitoring

interface GigabitEthernet6/20

description SPAN Port for monitoring

I would like to know if I can add the following command without bringing the switch down.

monitor session 2 destination interface fastethernet 9/8

I am concerned becuase i'm trying to send the SPAN to a fast ethernet port and I'm also concerned that the switch can handle the additional port without going down.

Re: Multiple SPAN 6509

There are no destination port limit on RSPAN, as far as I can see in the configurations guide. I am not aware of any kind of traffic disruption cuased by enabling SPAN or RSPAN, unless the destination port is where you are telnetting into, the destination port as you know does not participate in regular traffic forwarding (learning on destination port is disabled).

Re: Multiple SPAN 6509

Thank you for the reply. I think the only thing I need to consider is that this switch will be handling more traffic per second than the 100 mb/sec port will handle. So I will use one of the GB ports.
