Multiple VTP enviroment

Hi all.

I need two switches configured with the same VTP domain (eg Cisco1) exchange VTP PDU's, the problem is that these computers are physically interconnected by computers in another VTP domain (Cisco2 example). This problem is due to a pretty big network infrastructure are distributed devices WS-C2960-48TC-S which accept only 64 VLAN's and when updating their VLAN database with more than 64 VLAN´s are automatically configured in transparent mode.

The scheme would be something like this:

========================            ========================          =========================

|   SW1                                     |           |  SW2                                     |           |    SW3                                     |

|   VTP Domain: Cisco1              | <===>|  VTP Domain: Cisco2              | <===>|   VTP Domain: Cisco1               |

========================            ========================          =========================

Do this is possible?

What can I do to fix this problem?

Thanks a lot.

You have two options:

1. Place SW2 into the same VTP domain (Cisco1) as the rest of the network.

2. Place SW2 into transparent mode running VTPv2. Depending on the IOS version you are running, this should allow SW2 to transparently forward the VTP BPDUs between SW1 and SW3 without the requirement of being in the same VTP domain.

Hello

regards the 64 vlans limitation - have you thought about upgrading the IOS to accomodate more vlans?
