multlink ppp

Can someone tell me why we typically use "no ip address" on serial interfaces when using multilink ppp?

Re: multlink ppp

Because you configure the ip address on the dialer interface or Multilink Virtual interface. It does not make sence to have an ip address (layer 3) on part of a link. Mppp is a Layer 2 function. A Virtual (or dialer) interface is used to connect the multiple channels together. it is the Layer 3 termination point.
