My POTS phone does not "ring"

I have connected a phone to my 803-router but there is not a sound from the phone when an incoming call is on the way.

If I pick up the phone, the call is there....?

Outgoing calls - no problem!

The router is "ringing" as you can see from the debug session, but no beep

on the phone!!!?

Re: My POTS phone does not "ring"

This takes me back to my days in telephony. It looks as though the ringing signaling is working properly. Often, external ringing voltage needs to be provided in order to do the actual work of ringing the phone when the ringing signal is provided. In looking at the pinouts of the power cable, here, http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/access/acs_fix/800/800hwins/specs.htm (scroll down to the power cable spec), pins 7 and 8 have voltages of -71V and -24 V, respectively. I'm certain one of these is for ringing voltage. Do you have a way of verifying whether your power supply is furnishing these voltages?

Good Luck,

Re: My POTS phone does not "ring"

You need to configure the 803 to terminate voice calls on voice ports. Here is the url which discuss that along with the troubleshooting.

Re: My POTS phone does not "ring"

OK, you guys out there and CISCO

the "ringing_freq" for Sweden should be 25Hz
