Hello, I am using IGX8 with one NPM (8.2.59) and two cards (UFM and UFMU), both are in standy state. Some ideas to get them out of this state ?

Thanks,

Cleber

In order for you to get framerelay enabled on the node, you will have to contact TAC and give them access to the node .

Oncethey have enabled Frame Relay, you can configure the connections/ports on the UFM/UFMU cards and they should come active.

Any reason you are running 8.2 software on the node ?

Thanks

Hi Cleber,

Are the cards going in standby mode inspite of connections added to them?

-Sai.

Hi, thanks for the answer.

I have one IGX8 that got its NPM broken, so I had to change it, but the backup NPM was configured, so I issued clrcnf. After that, my UFM and UFMU just stay in standby mode. When I try to configure some FR ports, I got the message that the frame-relay is not available.

Thanks,

Cleber

Hello, thanks. That's it. I had to use cnfswfunc to enable frame-relay, because I issued clrcnf before.

Thanks,

Cleber

Cleber,

You have to contact cisco who will access inside your node with StrataCom level and they will issue the command cnfswfunc. (output below)

Index Status Function

1 Disabled Data Frame Multiplexing

2 Disabled Adaptive Voice

3 Enabled Frame Relay

4 Enabled Configuration Save/Restore

5 Enabled ForeSight

6 Enabled Frame Relay Network-to-Network Interface

7 Enabled Multiple VTs (6 sessions enabled)

8 Disabled Interface Shelf

9 Enabled Virtual Trunks

10 Enabled ABR standard with VSVD

As you can see they have to enable the function 3 and I strongly suggest you to make them enable 5 as well.

The UFM-U/C is in standy mode when there are no resources configured.

If the card is UFM-U you have to activate a port ( upport ).

If the card is a UFM-C you have to:

-activate a line (upln)

(the card will be active after this)

-add a logical port (addport)

-configure the port (cnfport)

-activate the port (upport).

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe, I solved the problem using the cnfswfunc to enable FR.

Thanks,

Cleber

hi,

there are 2 state the card will be.Either Standy or active.

Active means your card is working i.e.you have configured the port.

Standby mean you there not connections configured on it yet.

Are you trying to configure for first time.Aslo need to check with Service level password wether FR has been enabled.Use the command dspswfunc.
