Can anyone please tell me if I'm able to get the full functionality when I "only" have a WS-F6K-MSFC installed in my 6509 or should it be a MSFC2 ?.
I'm a little bit confused because somewhere on CCO I have find that the requirement is MSFC2 and in some examples I have seen the configuraton listed with just a MSFC so whats correct ?.
Thanks

For NAM-2, you need to have a MSFC2. See the section "Table 3 and Table4" at: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/cfgnotes/78_14487.htm#xtocid12 for details.

Hi
Thanks for your quick response.
What about if I'm buying a MSFC1 because if you look in the "show module" example below Table 5 on the same page there is shown a MSFC.
Console> (enable) show module
Mod Slot Ports Module-Type Model Sub Status
--- ---- ----- ------------------------- ------------------- --- --------
1 1 2 1000BaseX Supervisor WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE yes ok
15 1 1 Multilayer Switch Feature WS-F6K-MSFC no ok
3 3 2 Network Analysis Module WS-SVC-NAM-1 no ok
5 5 48 10/100BaseTX Ethernet WS-X6248-RJ-45 no ok
.
Can you tell me whats happen if I install a MSFC2 in my 6509. I'll think
it would be wery nice to have support for dual SPAN sessions but I dont want to by new Supervisor engines.
My setup:
CSC-RSW1-MS3> (enable) sh mod
Mod Slot Ports Module-Type Model Sub Status
--- ---- ----- ------------------------- ------------------- --- --------
1 1 2 1000BaseX Supervisor WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE yes ok
15 1 1 Multilayer Switch Feature WS-F6K-MSFC no ok
2 2 2 1000BaseX Supervisor WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE yes standby
16 2 1 Multilayer Switch Feature WS-F6K-MSFC no ok
3 3 48 10/100BaseTX Ethernet WS-X6348-RJ-45 no ok
4 4 48 10/100BaseTX Ethernet WS-X6348-RJ-45 no ok
7 7 16 1000BaseSX Ethernet WS-X6416-GE-MT no ok
8 8 16 1000BaseSX Ethernet WS-X6416-GE-MT no ok
9 9 2 MM OC-12 ATM WS-X6101-OC12-MMF no ok
Kind regards

I haven't tested NAM-2 with MSFC1, therefore I don't know whether it will work or not. But I'd prefer going by the NAM docs to be on the safe side.

Sorry Rizwan
I ment buying a NAM-1 not a MSFC-1. ;-)
