named access lists

Hi all, can anyone tell me how and why we can edit named access lists, I have heard that it is much easier to edit a named access list than a numbered one

Re: named access lists

Hello Carl,

Named access list opposed to numbered access-list are stored sequentially in RAM.

conf t

ip access-list standard MyList

permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255

permit 192.168.2.0 0.0.0.255

end

show ip access-list MyList

Standard IP access list MyList

10 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255

20 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255

show run | b MyList

ip access-list standard MyList

permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255

permit 192.168.2.0 0.0.0.255

If you'd like to edit an access-list, say change sequence 10

conf t

ip access-list standard MyList

no 10

10 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.128

end

Read more about access-lists on the documentation site:
