Nat of IP Addresses

I have 3 IP addresses of a SMTP server. The hostname for these 3 IP addresses is smtp.mydomain.com. Is there a way I can do something with Nating that I will NAT the 3 IP addresses to one IP address presented to the users?

Thank You

Re: Nat of IP Addresses

Not sure I understand what you want, but if you want the 3 IPs to be load-balanced (in a round-robin method) using one virtual IP, try this:

ip nat pool test 10.10.10.10 10.10.10.12 prefix-length 24 type rotary (where these IPs are the real 3 IPs of the smtp servers)

ip nat inside destination list 1 pool test

access-list 1 permit 200.200.200.200 (where 200.200.200.200 is the virtual IP presented to users).

int s0

ip nat outside

int e0

ip nat inside

The 'type rotary' indicates that the range of address in the address pool identify real, inside hosts among which TCP load distribution will occur.

Hope it helps.

Hello Steve;

I think you may be onto something. I have made the configuration changes and appears to be working.

Thank You for your help.
