ip nat pool theinside 188.8.131.52 184.108.40.206 prefix-length 28
ip nat inside source list inside_nat pool theinside overload
ip access-list standard inside_nat
permit 192.168.0.0, wildcard bits 0.0.0.255
This tells me that multiple hosts on vlan 40 with the ip address range of 192.168.0.0/24 should have NAT working. The external ip will be 220.127.116.11 and this ip only as overload has been specified. The ip 18.104.22.168/28 is off of the subinterface port-channel1.1
To test things out a setup a computer with the ip address of 192.168.0.100/24 on vlan 40. I pinged the gateway - 192.168.0.1 just fine. I pinged 22.214.171.124/28 just fine same with 126.96.36.199/28.
After I pinged 188.8.131.52/28 I did a
show ip nat translations
And showed a entry - I thought great it works. However I tried to surf the internet - and nothing. No entries in the translation table.
I can't ping - http://www.yahoo.com or any ip address external to the router I'm connect to. Translation is taking place I just can't reach outside to ips not connected to the router...
There are no access lists in place that restrict the 184.108.40.206/28 network in any way as other hosts in the subnet have unfettered connectivity.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
