need help restricting bandwith

Hello,

I have a Cisco 3640 and i have a connection with my isp of 1 MB and a class C.

I have some hosts on my network that I would like to restrict their bandwith since they are web servers and they are taking all of my bandwith.

ie.

fastethernet 3/0

ip-> 200.51.140.1 255.255.255.0

webserver1: 200.51.140.6 <<-- this is the ip I would like to restrict to 128 kbps.

webserver2: 200.51.140.7 <<-- this one I would like to have in 192 kbps.

all others ip (the rest of the class C) I would like to have full access to the bandwith.

I believe you will need to implement Quality-of-Service (QOS) to accomplish this type of task. I hope that the web page listing can give you some information as to how to implement QOS in your environment.

Thank you, but I think that I have to use rate-limit with access lists.

I've heard that this is the solution.

No, i think you are right. CAR with ip access lists are just designed for that. The configuration of CAR is well documented at CCO.
