Hi, we need to monitor pix failover with snmp. Going through the pix readme shows as example how to do with Cisco Works for WIndows. Is this the only cisco product that can manage this? We are using LMS, 5th edition with RME 3.4, is there a way with LMS to monitor failover events?

DFM 1.2 with IDU 1.2.3 supports PIX. See the DFM FAQs:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/cw2000/dfm/dfm_faq.htm#xtocid27 to see if it could help.

Unfortunately DFM will only monitor cold starts and link up/down status. As per http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix/pix_sw/v_62/config/sysmgmt.htm#22243 you will need to compile Cisco MIB for firewall but only gives directions on installing them with Cisco Works for Windows (SNMPc). Is there any other features with either VMS or LMS that can do this and directions on which to do it with. Or is my only option Cisco Works for Windows (SNMPc)?

CW2K does not have an option to load MIBs separately like HPOV etc. So, I guess for you can use CWW for now.
