Need Simple Config For 2600 Back to Back Connection

I need a simple config to connect two 2600 router, both which have t1 csu/dsu WICs. I want to connect them back-to-back, they have rj45 connectors. I was unable to ping their interface until I placed one in loopback. However, I still could not ping the other router. I am using a cross-over cable to connect the devices.

Try setting, one end to clock source line, while the other end to clock source internal.

If I were to connect the two 2600 router back to back using a cross-cable RJ45 cable, how can I simulate a WAN connection with 2Mbps bandwidth? Is there a command to limit the thoughput to whatever I want?

Hello,

if you want to limit the throughput on the Ethernet interfaces, you can use the rate-limit command in interface config mode. Is you cross-connection between the Ethernet ports working now ?

Not sure if you have any X.21 or V.35 DTE and DCE cables available, but here are some links to how to configure back-to-back connections:

Can i used a normal RJ45 cross-cable to connect my 2 x Cisco 2650 routers? Both my router have VWIC 2MFT-G703 E1 Controller card. Can you also advise what configuration I need to apply on the routers to connect them back to back thru serial interface?

I followed the link you recommended and tried the config illustrated by Cisco "PPP Back-to-Back Connections" but my routers showed 'Serial 0/0:0 is reset, line protocol is down'. Any idea why? By the way, the clock rate don't show too when I do a 'Show run'.

you can limit the data rate on serial interfaces with back to back connection using clock rate. How much clock rate you issue means the bandwidth you are allowing on that link.
