You should be able to tell by looking at the Access-lists of the switch.
Aside from that, you could put a packet/protocol analyzer in-line and capture traffic in and out. Ethereal is pretty decent, and it's free (www.ethereal.com).
A "regular" switch should be filtering anything at layer two. If it's a layer three switch, then it could be filtering, but generally it's recommended to do traffic filtering at the distribution layer and keep the core switches as open and fast as possible.
