i am going to put 6509E with sup720 as my MDF and 6509E with sup32- 10GE as an IDF. now i would like to do a 10G connectivity Between MDF and IDF but before that i have a queation in my mind
if i need 1G connectivity to the Desktop how many ports are allowed in IDF to get good result and if we don't want oversubscribe on 10G uplink between IDF and MDF. is there any ratio like if we have a 10 G then ------- much port of 1G are allowed to get a good result.
could you please help me on this?
thanks.

Supervisor32 still relies on the 32Gbps shared bus and line card modules on this box will be non-fabric (classic line cards).
You will be oversubscribed at the ingress port before it hits the inter-switch links.

Oversubscription rates are very dependent on how busy you expect the hosts to be. For user hosts you might try the old ratio of 24:1, which for 10 gig to gig would support 240 gig ports.
